The big news at the moment is of course the snap General Election to be held on 8 June: a cynical tactical move from the Brexit Conservatives, aiming to turn the weakness of the Labour ‘opposition’ into the strength of a commanding Westminster majority. We must trust the good sense of the people of Britain, and Somerset, to prevent this attempt at an elected coup – and our own energies to ensure David Warburton’s Parliamentary career lasts only two years.
During those two years, our MP cast aside the warm words of his 2015 campaign, to vote for every socially, environmentally and economically damaging option available – then fell off the European fence the moment Boris Johnson declared himself for ‘Vote Leave’. We must show that he is not a fit and proper representative for the good people of Somerton & Frome.
